A municipality with remarkable religiosity, beautiful landscapes and a very welcoming people.

The Franciscan city of Itambacuri emerged from a village for catechesis of the Indians, who in the 1800s inhabited this part of the northeast of Minas. The Imperial Government at the time sought to free up territories for future colonization and, therefore, ended up taking advantage of the labor of the natives of the place. Friars Serafim de Gorizia and Friar Ângelo de Sassoferrato were the first priests to arrive in these new lands, fulfilling the purpose of the Empire. The result of this endeavor is that, until today, the municipality carries the traces of faith and religiosity that marked the beginning of its settlement. right destination for pilgrimages for groups of religious from all over the country, especially during the feast of its patron saint, Nossa Senhora dos Anjos, held annually on the second of August.

The place, which in itself is already blessed by the community of friars who have lived there for more than a century, didn't even need to have such a beautiful sunset and such a magnificent view of the city. Attached to the Sanctuary are the Franciscan Convent, where young people from all over Brazil prepare for ecclesiastical life, and the Religious Museum, a space with ecumenical characteristics that awakens the senses of visitors. Culture, located right in the center of the city and decorated by various environments that illustrate the customs of the people who had an influence on the formation of the municipality.
